Harare Man Killed By Four Dogs As Security Guard And Car Sale Co-Owner Arrested
A 39-year-old Harare man, Malcom Takudzwa Muzavazi, was fatally attacked by four dogs in Southerton on Thursday evening, 24 September 2026. Police have since arrested a security guard and the co-owner of a nearby car sale as investigations continue.
Southerton Dog Attack Claims 39-Year-Old
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said Muzavazi was attacked between 6pm and 6.30pm along a footpath between the ZESA Holdings durawall and a car sale in Southerton.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the dogs were being looked after by a private security guard.
“The dogs, comprising a male Belgian Malinois and three Belgian Malinois / German Shepherd crossbreeds, were under the care of a private security guard who had released them from their kennels for feeding.”
Police said the dogs attacked Muzavazi during the incident.
Two Arrested As Police Investigate
The security guard, Mannex Svova, 21, and the car sale’s co-owner, Itai Tamirepi, 43, have been arrested.
ZRP said the two men are assisting with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
The arrests come as police continue to establish what happened before Muzavazi was attacked and the circumstances surrounding the dogs being outside their kennels.
Police Investigation Continues
The fatal incident occurred just weeks after another serious dog attack in Harare, when police reported that a Rottweiler killed an eight-month-old infant in Glen View 7 on 9 September 2026.
The latest Southerton case remains under investigation.
