Hardrock stun MWOS with dramatic late comeback to boost PSL title hopes

Hardrock produced a remarkable fightback to defeat MWOS 3-2 at Chahwanda and strengthen their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title ambitions.

The leaders overturned a two-goal deficit before Munashe Bamara struck in the 90th minute. His dramatic finish completed a memorable comeback and delivered three valuable points.

MWOS appeared comfortable after Arthur Banda opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Nigel Makumbe then doubled their advantage in the 59th minute, putting Hardrock under pressure.

However, the hosts responded immediately through Gerald Takwara, who reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute. Thubelihle Mavuso subsequently restored parity in the 78th minute, setting up a tense finish.

Bamara then delivered the decisive moment, completing Hardrock’s stunning turnaround and leaving MWOS frustrated.

Kaindu praises Hardrock’s fighting spirit

Hardrock coach Kelvin Kaindu praised his players for refusing to surrender despite facing a difficult situation.

“If your team can get a last-minute goal from the most difficult matches, what more do you want?” Kaindu said.

Meanwhile, MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa acknowledged his opponents’ achievement while reflecting on his team’s performance.

“It was a good game, we could have won it and I do not remember us conceding 3 goals but credit to Hardrock,” MWOS FC Coach Lloyd Mutasa said.

The victory further strengthens Hardrock’s position as they pursue the league championship. Their ability to recover from adversity could prove crucial during the closing stages.

Title race remains alive as relegation battle intensifies

Hardrock remain top of the standings with 69 points from 32 matches. However, second-placed Scottland have 61 points and games in hand, keeping the championship contest alive.

With two matches remaining for Hardrock, the leaders will aim to maintain their advantage. Scottland, meanwhile, still have an opportunity to challenge for the crown.

Elsewhere, TelOne suffered relegation after losing 3-2 to AGAMA. The victory boosted AGAMA’s survival hopes as the battle at the bottom continued.

Triangle also kept their fight alive by defeating Simba Bhora 2-0. Meanwhile, already-relegated Manica Diamonds lost 1-0 at home to Bulawayo Chiefs.

That result strengthened Bulawayo Chiefs’ survival campaign. Hunters, meanwhile, shared the points with Highlanders after their match ended in a 1-1 draw.
