‘I Have Neither The Appetite Nor Bandwidth’: Nelson Chamisa Draws The Line After Clashing with Hopewell Chin’ono
Opposition politician Nelson Chamisa has signalled that he is moving on from his public dispute with journalist Hopewell Chin’ono.
Chamisa addressed the issue in a post on X, thanking Zimbabweans for their support and messages of encouragement following the heated exchange.

‘I Had To Set The Record Straight’
Chamisa said his decision to respond publicly was unusual for him.
“THANK YOU, ZIMBABWE, for your feedback, solidarity and encouragement. I’m fired up.”
He said he felt compelled to speak out to clarify his position but now wants to leave the matter behind.
“I had to take this unusual and uncharacteristic step to set the record straight. I have neither the appetite nor the bandwidth to engage on this matter any further.”
Chamisa said continuing the dispute would distract from what he considers more important political objectives.
“It’s unwise to waste bullets on shadows when the real fight is right in front of us.”
Focus Shifts To Political Campaign
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) former leader said his attention was now firmly on his broader political ambitions.
“My focus now is where it belongs: building #TheNew, advancing the struggle for change, and fighting for a Citizens’ Government in our lifetime.”
Chamisa has repeatedly used the phrase “The New” when describing his vision for political and social change in Zimbabwe.
His latest statement suggests that he wants to redirect attention from personal disputes towards that agenda.
‘My Resolve Is Unshaken’
Despite the recent confrontation, Chamisa maintained that his determination remains intact.
“I remain fortified, unyielding and indomitable. My resolve is unshaken.”
He ended his post by reiterating his belief that Zimbabwe will eventually experience political change.
“Zimbabwe will be free. Until citizens victory, freedom and prosperity. A Citizens Government in our lifetime.”
