Former Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese believes Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng deserves a move to Europe after an outstanding season.
The 21-year-old attacker has scored 11 goals in all competitions this season. Furthermore, many fans expect him to win the PSL Footballer of the Season award.
Speaking on Radio 2000’s Game On, Lebese praised Mofokeng’s growth and influence at Pirates.
“I’m glad to see ‘Rele’ graduating now. I don’t think we can refer to him as a youngster anymore, because he’s carrying the team, and he’s doing everything that he can to also win the league for himself.
“It would be nice for him to win the league, let’s be honest,” the former Chiefs star said.
Mofokeng Thrives in Midfield Role
This season, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou deployed Mofokeng in the number 10 role. As a result, the young star delivered several impressive performances.
Lebese believes the attacking midfield position suits Mofokeng perfectly.
“I think his body structure allows him to play more as a ten; he can dodge tackles, run away from defenders that are strong, but if you put him solely in the line, it becomes difficult when he plays against strong players,” he added.
Pirates Star Linked With Exit
Mofokeng joined the Pirates first team in 2023. Since then, he has scored 28 goals in more than 100 matches for the Soweto giants.
Meanwhile, several clubs continue to monitor his progress. Many supporters now expect him to play his final match for the Buccaneers against Orbit College.
