Killer T Freed As Cyberbullying Charges Dropped After Apology

Killer T Freed After 48 Hours In Custody As Muzawazi Family Withdraws Charges

Zimdancehall musician Kelvin Kusikwenyu, popularly known as Killer T, has been freed after spending about 48 hours in police custody, following the withdrawal of cyberbullying charges against him.

The charges were withdrawn before plea at the Harare Magistrates Court after Ambassador Kwame Tapiwa Muzawazi filed an affidavit indicating that he no longer wished to pursue the matter.

The development came after Killer T publicly retracted the messages he had sent and apologised to the Muzawazi family.

Charges Withdrawn In Court

Killer T was facing allegations arising from threatening and insulting voice notes he sent to Muzawazi through WhatsApp.

He was questioned by police on Monday, 5 October, after the Muzawazi family lodged a complaint.

The complaint followed messages sent after the death of 39-year-old Malcolm Takudzwa Muzavazi, who was mauled to death by four dogs in Southerton.

At court, the complainant withdrew the case before the musician could be asked to plead to the charges.

The withdrawal followed an apology and retraction by Killer T, which the Muzawazi family accepted.

Killer T Admits Sending Voice Notes

In his public apology, Killer T acknowledged that he had sent the messages and accepted responsibility for his conduct.

He said:

“I wish to unreservedly apologize to Ambassador Kwame Tapiwa Muzawazi as a person, the entire Muzawazi family and every Zimbabwean for my bad conduct. I admit to have sent Ambassador Muzawazi threatening, disrespectful and insulting words I can not type here. I sent them through audio voice notes to his phone via WhatsApp platform on 4 October 2026.”

The musician also retracted the statements and apologised for what he had said.

“I PUBLICLY RETRACT EVERYTHING I SAID AND SINCERELY APOLOGISE.”

Killer T attributed his behaviour to heavy intoxication but stressed that he did not regard alcohol as an excuse for his actions.

“I was shocked and could not even believe I had said those bad distasteful words and threats when I listened to the voice notes. I admit I have been abusing alcohol. I was heavily intoxicated at the material time but that is not an excuse.”

He said he accepted full responsibility and acknowledged that he should not have allowed himself to become so intoxicated.

‘I Have Failed My Family’

The musician also reflected on the effect the incident could have on his career, family and young people who look up to him.

“I have not only failed myself, I have failed and tarnished my name and brand. I have also been a very bad example to all youths who look up to me as a musician and celebrity in Zimbabwe. I have failed my family and everyone who believed in me. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.”

Killer T also appealed directly to Muzawazi and his relatives for forgiveness.

“I am reaching out to Ambassador Muzawazi and his family humbly requesting forgiveness. This apology comes from the bottom of my heart. It is sincere.”

He acknowledged that his actions could not simply be undone but expressed hope that the family would accept his apology.

“To err is human but to forgive is divine. I AM VERY SORRY.”

Musician Vows To Give Up Alcohol

Following the incident, Killer T said he had decided to stop drinking alcohol.

He said his experience had prompted him to reconsider his relationship with alcohol and that he wanted to use the experience to encourage others to avoid substance abuse.

“I have reflected deeply on my bad conduct and have resolved to quit drinking alcohol before it is too late. I have abused alcohol before and now wish to be an advocate against drugs and substance abuse.”

He also asked his family and friends to support him as he works towards changing his behaviour.

“I regret my conduct and feel extremely bad. I hope everyone, my family and friends will help me to be a better exemplary person. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.”
