Mutimurefu Prison Escapee James Masunda Captured in Renco

James Masunda, 34, one of two inmates who escaped from Mutimurefu Prison, has been arrested in Renco.

Masunda, who is serving a 20-year sentence for armed robbery, was shot twice in one leg during the operation.

He was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for treatment following his arrest.

Accomplice Remains at Large

Masunda escaped from prison less than a week ago alongside 27-year-old Tafadzwa Janyure Zimirenyika.

According The Masvingo Mirror, Masunda and Janyure had been hiding in the area.

The sources said Masunda had left Janyure hiding in a mountain near his relatives’ homestead.

He reportedly went down from the hiding place to look for food when authorities caught up with him.

Janyure managed to evade arrest and remains at large.

Manhunt Continues

Authorities have intensified efforts to locate Janyure as the search for the remaining escapee continues.

Police and other security teams are expected to maintain the manhunt in the surrounding areas.
