Highlanders FC Dismiss Benjani Mwaruwari Resignation Reports Ahead Of Chicken Inn Derby

Highlanders FC have moved to quash reports that coach Benjani Mwaruwari has resigned from his position.

The club says it has not received any resignation from the former Zimbabwe international.

Mwaruwari remains in charge as Highlanders prepare to face Chicken Inn in the Chibuku Super Cup on Sunday.

Acting executive chairperson Kindman Ndlovu confirmed the club’s position on Saturday.

He said preparations for the highly anticipated Bulawayo derby were continuing despite disruptions during the week.

Club Focuses On Derby Preparations

Ndlovu said Highlanders were working to resume training ahead of the cup encounter.

He acknowledged that the players had not trained during the week.

However, the club is now planning a training session as it looks to get the squad ready for the important fixture.

“The club is unaware of any resignation. We are preparing for the match against Chicken Inn,” Ndlovu said.

He added that the planning process was progressing well despite the challenges faced during the week.

The resignation reports come after a turbulent period that disrupted Highlanders’ preparations for the derby.

Speculation surrounding Mwaruwari’s future has intensified amid the uncertainty at the club.

Despite the reports, Highlanders have made it clear that the coach remains in charge.
