DJ Tira Announces FACT Durban Rocks Brand Is Up for Sale

DJ Tira has announced that the FACT Durban Rocks festival, one of Durban’s biggest annual celebrations, will no longer be hosted by him and his partners.

After 14 years of building the brand into a city-wide spectacle, the trademark is now being offered for sale to anyone interested in continuing the legacy.

End of an Era for Durban’s Biggest Celebration

DJ Tira described the decision as the end of an era for the annual New Year’s Eve event, which has become a staple on Durban’s social calendar.

He confirmed that the upcoming 31 December edition will be the last FACT Durban Rocks hosted under his leadership and team.

“The FACT Durban Rocks trademark is now available for sale to any interested parties who wish to continue the legacy and grow the brand going forward,” he said.

Reflecting on 30 Iconic Events

In a full statement shared online, Tira highlighted the festival’s history, noting that December 2025 will mark the 30th FACT event since the brand’s inception.

He praised the resilience of the event, which successfully navigated challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, including hosting two outdoor broadcasts and two picnics during that time.

Gratitude to Fans, Sponsors, and the City

Tira expressed gratitude to the festival’s loyal attendees, sponsors—including SAB and Schweppes—and the city of Durban for supporting the event through the years.

He also acknowledged fans’ feedback on previous event closing times, noting the brand’s efforts to provide safe transportation and late-night entertainment.

Fans Get One Last Chance to Celebrate FACT Durban Rocks

DJ Tira confirmed that this New Year’s Eve will mark the last FACT Durban Rocks event hosted by the current partners, adding that it is the perfect time to hand the brand over to emerging talent.

The final FACT Durban Rocks event will take place 31 December 2025, from 2pm to 2am, giving fans one last chance to celebrate the iconic Durban festival.

“This December will mark our 30th FACT event, which feels like a meaningful milestone. We believe it’s the right moment to pass the torch to some new, upcoming talent.

This New Year’s Eve will be the final event organized by the current partners. In January 2026, the FACT brand and its trademarks will be put up for sale. We have cherished every FACT event and especially value the lasting relationships we’ve built with our community—those who appreciated the late-night hours and the effort to ensure safe transportation home.”
