Plans for a new United Family International Church (UFIC) building in Harare have received a major financial boost.

UFIC founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa announced that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has committed US$2 million towards the project.

Makandiwa revealed the pledge during Sunday’s service at the church’s Basilica in Chitungwiza.

The announcement was met with loud cheers from the congregation, which numbers more than 30 000 people.

President Backs Construction Project

According to Makandiwa, President Mnangagwa decided to support the development after learning that the church was planning a new building.

The prophet said the President told him to proceed with the project and identify the materials required.

Prophet Makandiwa said he was then instructed to submit the quotations, with Mnangagwa offering to cover US$2 million from his personal funds.

He said the President also recognised UFIC’s work and its involvement in the country.

Church Promises Transparency

The planned Harare facility is expected to accommodate about 10 000 worshippers.

Makandiwa said the church would ensure that the construction process remains accountable.

He pledged to keep members and other stakeholders informed about developments as work progresses.

The UFIC leader also said the ministry would have no objection if the President appointed someone to monitor the project on his behalf.

Prophet Makandiwa described his relationship with President Mnangagwa in personal terms, saying he regularly prays for the President and his family.

He also called for God’s continued blessings upon the First Family.

Chivayo Contribution Also Acknowledged

The latest pledge adds to financial support already announced for the proposed church.

Makandiwa used the same service to thank businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife for contributing US$1 million towards the construction project.

He also acknowledged the luxury vehicles presented to him and his wife, Ruth, by the couple.

The gifts included a 2026 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge facelift, a 2026 Mercedes-AMG G63 G-Wagon and a 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.

Makandiwa said the Maybach was given to them as an anniversary present.

The church’s latest funding commitments now give further momentum to its plans for the proposed 10 000-seater Harare facility.
