President Mnangagwa Hands Over Vehicles and Wheelchairs to Empower Persons With Disabilities

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has donated brand-new Mahindra vehicles and wheelchairs to musicians Greatman and Chipo Muchegwa, along with other Zimbabweans living with disabilities, in a gesture aimed at strengthening inclusion and community empowerment.

The handover ceremony took place at State House, where recipients drawn from various sectors gathered to receive mobility support designed to improve both their independence and their reach within their communities.

Greatman and Chipo Among Beneficiaries

Musicians Tongai “Greatman” Gwaze and Chipo Muchegwa were among those presented with Mahindra vehicles.

The initiative is expected to help them carry out their work more efficiently while contributing to disability advocacy through their platforms and foundations.

Other beneficiaries included:

Hazel Mandaza, entrepreneur and Zimbabwe Youth Council board member
Michelle Madawu, Bulawayo-based beautician
Tendai Mazuru, founder of the Tendai Mazuru Foundation, which supports persons with disabilities and their families

Each recipient also received 10 wheelchairs, totalling 50, to distribute to individuals living with disabilities in their communities.

A Push Toward Inclusive Development

Addressing guests at the event, President Mnangagwa said supporting persons with disabilities remains a key commitment under the Second Republic’s development agenda.

He emphasised that Government will continue rolling out programmes that widen access, improve participation and uplift young Zimbabweans living with disabilities who continue to make positive contributions despite ongoing challenges.
