Prophetess Arrested With Bucket Of Human Body Parts In Harare

A  self-proclaimed prophetess was arrested after being caught with a bucket of human body parts following a home birth that ended in tragedy. Rumbidzayi Sanyamvura, known to her followers as Madzimai Rumbi, was taken into police custody after officers were called to her property.

The investigation was triggered by the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified as Ms Misoya, who had sought spiritual assistance from the prophetess to deliver her baby. Authorities were alerted to the incident this past Saturday, several days after the fatal delivery occurred on Tuesday.

Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and the disturbing details that emerged.

“We were informed of a suspicious death following a childbirth at the suspect’s residence,” Inspector Chakanza stated. “Upon our arrival and initial inquiries, the suspect led us to a bucket which she had stored on the premises.”

The container held a collection of human remains, described by police as including teeth, intestinal matter, an umbilical cord, and a quantity of blood. The prophetess allegedly claimed all the contents were linked to the deceased, Ms Misoya.

The burial of Ms Misoya has been officially halted. Police have ordered a thorough forensic examination to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death and the provenance of the grisly collection of body parts.

“The deceased’s body, along with the bucket and its contents, has been transported to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem and DNA analysis,” Inspector Chakanza explained.

The initial post-mortem had indicated that the woman succumbed to complications arising from high blood pressure, but the new evidence necessitates a deeper investigation.
