Four-Year-Old Girl Collapses and Dies While Walking Home With Mother in Headlands
A four-year-old girl died after suddenly collapsing while walking home with her mother and siblings in Headlands, leaving her family and the local community in shock.
The tragic incident happened last Wednesday when the child was returning home with her mother, a teacher, and her two siblings. They were reportedly only a short distance from their house when the young girl unexpectedly fell to the ground.

Mother alerted by eldest child
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said the girl’s mother, 36-year-old Juliet Mashereni, had been walking ahead with her children after finishing work at Gazaland Private College.
According to police, the family’s six-year-old child called out to their mother after noticing that the four-year-old had collapsed.
When Mashereni rushed back, she found the child lying face down on the ground and unresponsive. Despite her efforts to wake her, there was no response.
She immediately contacted her husband, and the pair rushed the girl to hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead on arrival.
“About a few metres from their home, her six-year-old child called out to her that her four-year-old daughter had collapsed.
She saw her lying on the ground on her stomach, unconscious. The mother tried to lift her while calling her to no avail. She informed her husband, and they rushed the girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said.
Police launch investigations
The incident was reported to ZRP Headlands, and officers attended the scene.
The child’s body was taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
