Government Commissions Over 30 Vehicles for Reparations Department

Garwe says mobility is key to improving operations
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe said the additional vehicles would strengthen the department’s presence throughout the country.
“We are here to commission over 30 vehicles that were bought by both Government and our development partners, and we are thankful to His Excellency the President because we are improving the mobility of our team across the country so that they continue to provide services to our people,” he said.
The vehicles will be allocated to provincial offices, with officers serving rural communities expected to receive priority.
Focus shifts to economic development
Garwe said the Government’s attention has now turned towards implementing economic programmes following the signing into law of Constitution Amendment Act No. 3.
He said ministries had been directed to prioritise initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting Zimbabwe’s goal of attaining upper-middle-income economy status by 2030.
“The CAB3 is over now that the President has signed it, and focus is now on the economic deliverables and ensuring that everyone is part of the upper-middle-income society by 2030. That is what the President has now told us to work towards,” he said.
Support for provincial and rural offices
Government said the new fleet would be deployed across the country’s provinces to improve the department’s operational efficiency.
Officials said prioritising rural deployments would help ensure that services are delivered more effectively to communities that often face logistical challenges.
