UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party secretary-general Sbonelo Nomvalo has responded strongly to Julius Malema’s criticism.
The EFF leader attacked the MK Party during the EFF’s KwaZulu-Natal manifesto launch.
The event took place at Dr JL Dube Stadium in Inanda on Saturday.
Malema questioned whether the MK Party could provide stable leadership after the local government elections.

Malema questions MK Party leadership
During his address, Malema focused heavily on the MK Party’s recent leadership changes.
He also criticised internal disputes involving the Zuma-led party.
“MKP is dead before it was born, they are killing each other, they are destroying each other, they’re expelling each other. If you elect them as a mayor on the 4th [November], on the 5th bazomxosha lo mayor [they would fire the mayor]. So, how are we going to have a municipality where you’re not sure whether the mayor would still be mayor the following day?” he said.
Malema then compared the MK Party’s leadership record with the EFF’s internal structure.
“Only the EFF is clear, Marshall Dlamini was a secretary from the NPA [elective conference in 2024] and is still the secretary till today. How many secretary-generals did MK have? It’s less than three years but it has had more than 15 secretary-generals [sic] that is a sign of disorganisation,” he said.
He further presented the EFF as an organised political movement ahead of the November elections.
“You cannot vote for disorganisation, you must vote for organisation. The EFF is the only organisation that is organised in the whole of South Africa.”
“We will never allow anyone to attack our leader, Jacob Zuma. We will die for President Zuma. If you want to attack someone, attack us not the old man.”

MK Party secretary-general responds
Nomvalo has now hit back at Malema’s remarks and challenged the EFF leader over his approach.
The MK Party secretary-general said Malema should concentrate on his own party.
He also objected to the EFF leader repeatedly targeting the MK Party during his campaign speeches.
Nomvalo made it clear that the MK Party would not ignore the criticism.
“If he is inviting us to a battlefield we are going to accept that invitation,” Nomvalo said.
The exchange comes ahead of South Africa’s local government elections on 4 November.
The MK Party has faced several leadership changes during its preparations for the elections.
