Chivayo said he recently received news that the suspects had been convicted and sentenced following the ordeal suffered by his in-laws last year.
He commended the CID Homicide team for its handling of the investigation.
“JUSTICE SERVED…A JOB EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE!!!

Last week, I learnt the WONDERFUL NEWS that the group of 18 armed robbers who last year subjected my in-laws to a terrifying ordeal were finally CONVICTED and sentenced to a wonderful, handsome and relaxing combined jail term of 950 YEARS IN PRISON,” he wrote.
Chivayo said the officers demonstrated professionalism and determination throughout the investigation.
He specifically praised the response team, investigating officers, officer in charge and officer commanding for their work.
Wants To Equip CID Homicide
Chivayo said he had formally approached the authorities seeking approval for a major donation to CID Homicide in recognition of their work.
If approved, the businessman said he intends to provide 10 brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.8 V6 vehicles, or equivalent vehicles preferred by the police.
The proposed vehicles would support the department’s operational mobility in Harare and other areas.
He also wants to provide US$250,000 worth of specialised tactical and protective equipment.
According to Chivayo, the equipment would be selected by the department and used to improve officers’ safety during lawful operations.
iPhone Offer For Officers
Chivayo also proposed giving an iPhone 17 Pro Max to every officer attached to the CID Homicide station.
He said the offer would extend to all officers in the department, regardless of whether they directly participated in the robbery investigation.
Chivayo said the gesture was intended as his personal appreciation for the officers’ work.
“This proposed donation and gesture IF APPROVED is simply my small way of saying THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE,” he said.
Donation Still Awaits Approval
Chivayo stressed that the proposed contribution is subject to the necessary approvals from the authorities.
He said he had written to the relevant principal seeking permission for the donation.
He also argued that law-enforcement officers who risk their lives protecting the public should have adequate resources and equipment.
“Those who put their lives on the line protecting innocent citizens deserve to be properly equipped and supported,” Chivayo wrote.
