Zimbabwean Man Faces Life Sentence In UK After Attempting To Murder Wife
A Zimbabwean man has admitted attempting to murder his wife in a violent attack in the United Kingdom, after striking her repeatedly with a saucepan and pouring boiling water over her.
Louden Chagona, 50, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, where he changed his plea to guilty to attempted murder.
His wife, Abigail Chinorwadza, suffered serious head injuries in the assault at their home on Snaefell Avenue in Tuebrook earlier this year.

Wife Suffered Serious Injuries
According to Liverpool Echo, the court heard that Chinorwadza was struck eight times on the head with a saucepan before boiling water was poured over her while she was lying injured on the floor.
She sustained serious head injuries as well as burns to her arm and was rushed to hospital, where her condition was initially described as critical but stable.
She was later discharged from hospital as an inpatient.
Pictures of the saucepan recovered from the scene showed it had been left bloodstained and badly bent, while blood was also found around the kitchen.
Chagona Changes Plea
Chagona had previously denied attempting to murder his wife and was due to stand trial next month.
However, during Tuesday’s hearing, his barrister, John Rowan, asked for him to be rearraigned.
Chagona, who was assisted by an interpreter during the brief proceedings, then entered a guilty plea.
The 50-year-old, who is of Snaefell Avenue, was remanded in custody and will return to court for sentencing on November 13.
Judge Warns Of Substantial Sentence
Judge Stuart Driver KC told Chagona that he would appear via video for sentencing and warned him that the case was extremely serious.
The court has indicated that a substantial custodial sentence will be considered, with life imprisonment among the possibilities.
Chagona will remain in custody until his next court appearance on November 13, when he will be sentenced for the attempted murder.
