Wicknell Chivayo And Wife Lucy’s Elaborate Executive Granite-Encased Graves Prepared For Burial
An elaborate burial site has been prepared at Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park ahead of the final farewell to Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke Chivayo, today
The couple are set to be buried side by side at 2pm today at the memorial park’s Royal Estate, with the elaborate graves adding a striking detail to the preparations for their final farewell.
The two executive granite-encased vaults have been finished with polished grey granite, including the interior walls and upper coping. The granite was cut and polished before being brought to the site, where it was carefully fitted around the graves.
Unlike conventional graves that are often finished with bricks and cement, the structures prepared for Chivayo and Lucy are fully encased in granite.

Identical Graves Prepared For Couple
The two vaults have been constructed next to each other on a neatly maintained lawn beneath a white canopy, indicating that the couple will be interred together.
The polished granite finish gives the graves a distinctive appearance and is associated with elaborate burials at the upper end of Zimbabwe’s funeral arrangements.
The preparations at the site have been completed as family and mourners make final arrangements for the couple’s burial.
Farewell Marked By Song And Prayer
At the Chivayo family home in Gletwyn, Harare, mourners gathered for a farewell ceremony marked by song and prayer.
Members of the apostolic sect led worship as relatives, friends and other mourners paid their final respects to the couple.
The remains of Chivayo and Lucy have since been moved from the family home ahead of the burial.
Final Resting Place
Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park, which was recently acquired and rebranded by Nyaradzo Life Assurance, is undergoing transformation into a modern memorial destination.
The Royal Estate, where Chivayo and Lucy will be buried, is among the sections of the memorial park prepared for high-end burials.
The couple’s burial at 2pm today will bring to a close the public farewell following their deaths in a helicopter crash near Marondera.
