Nkayi Man Jailed For Life After Stabbing Ex-Lover 13 Times, Gets 5 More Years For Another Attack
A 45-year-old Nkayi man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his former girlfriend, Princess Janet Ncube, after following her from South Africa to Zimbabwe. Sicelinkosi Masuku stabbed her 13 times after she ended their relationship.
Masuku also received an additional five-year prison sentence for attempting to murder a 72-year-old man in a separate attack on the same night.
The sentences were handed down by the High Court sitting in Hwange.
Nkayi Murder: Masuku Followed Ex-Lover From South Africa
The murder happened on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, in Nkayi.
Ncube had reportedly been living and working in South Africa when she met Masuku. She ended their relationship after discovering that he was married and subsequently returned to Zimbabwe.
Masuku allegedly followed her across the border before tracking her down in Nkayi.
Police investigations indicated that Ncube had received threatening messages before her death. One of the messages attributed to Masuku read:
“If I don’t have you, no one will have you.”
The threats preceded the fatal confrontation in which Ncube was stabbed 13 times.
Masuku Gets Additional Five Years For Attempted Murder
The murder was not the only violent incident linked to Masuku that night. Approximately 30 minutes after attacking Ncube, Masuku stabbed a 72-year-old man in a separate incident. The elderly victim survived.
The High Court subsequently sentenced Masuku to life imprisonment for murder and an additional five years for attempted murder.
The sentences will run consecutively, meaning the five-year term will follow the life sentence rather than run alongside it.
The sentencing marks a significant development in a case that began with a police manhunt in January 2026. It also brings the separate attack on the elderly man into focus, adding another serious offence to Masuku’s convictions.
