Police Assure Public Safety Ahead Of Fugitive Veteran Geza Demonstration
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a stern national warning, vowing to deal decisively with any unlawful gatherings planned for Friday, 17 October 2025. This comes in response to a march called by the fugitive veteran, Blessed Geza. The police force has assured the nation that comprehensive security measures are already in place to maintain order and protect the public.
In an official press statement dated 16 October 2025, the police moved to reassure citizens and visitors about their safety. The statement promised that law and order would be upheld throughout the day and beyond. The police emphasised their constitutional duty to protect lives and property across all of Zimbabwe’s provinces.
Nationwide Police Deployment For Public Safety
According to the ZRP press statement, the Commissioner-General of Police has initiated a major security operation. The force is taking proactive steps to ensure stability across the country.
The statement confirmed, “The Commissioner-General of Police has deployed officers nationwide to protect the public and key infrastructure in all the provinces.”
The police statement made a direct appeal for life to continue as usual, imploring the public not to alter their routines. It specifically mentioned that all essential services would operate without interruption, aiming to project an image of normalcy and control.
The ZRP implored, “Members of the public are implored to go about their daily activities without fear. All essential services, including schools, businesses, public transport and government institutions, will continue to operate as usual.”
A Stern Warning Against Violence And Unlawful Gatherings
The ZRP specifically addressed the role of social media in circulating information about the planned march. The public was strongly urged not to be misled or intimidated by rumours and threats spreading on various online platforms.
The statement then outlined the severe consequences for anyone attempting to disrupt the peace. It left no room for ambiguity regarding the police’s intended response to any illegal activities, delivering a clear and direct warning to potential troublemakers.
The police warned, “Acts of violence, threats, vandalism, or incitement to commit crime will be severely dealt with in line with the country’s laws. Any attempts to engage in unlawful demonstrations, gatherings, or processions will be met with the full wrath of the law.”
Public Encouraged To Report Suspicious Activity
In a move to involve the community, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has encouraged citizens to act as its eyes and ears. People are being asked to report anything they deem suspicious that could affect their socio-economic activities.
The police provided direct contact numbers for the public to use, establishing clear channels for communication.
The statement urged, “Zimbabweans should feel free to report any suspicious activities, threats, or disturbances affecting their socio-economic activities to any nearest police station, or contact the National Complaints Desk on 024 270 3631 or WhatsApp at 071 280 0197.”
Police spokesperson, Commissioner P. Nyathi, the Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, signed the press statement.
