The popular social media couple Gilbert and Joyce Nyamhanhindi, famous online as the Nyathi family, have launched a legal battle against fellow content creator Louisa. This follows allegations of infidelity and abuse that Louisa made during a recent podcast appearance. The couple has filed a lawsuit demanding a retraction, an apology, and an end to what they call defamatory statements.
Through their South Africa-based legal representatives, Mahuntsi Attorneys Incorporated, the couple filed a formal complaint on January 10, 2026. The legal action comes directly after Louisa’s appearance on DJ Ollah’s podcast on January 9, where she made serious claims about their marriage. The Nyathi family states that Louisa used her platforms to spread falsehoods that have damaged their reputation and caused emotional distress.
The Claims That Sparked The Lawsuit
During the podcast, Louisa made specific allegations about Gilbert Nyamhanhindi’s conduct. She claimed he had been caught at a lodge after an incident involving his wife in South Africa. Louisa alleged,
“Gilbert had taken R15,000 (approx. US$800) to Boksburg, where he booked a lodge with a girlfriend, using his wife’s number at the reception. According to Louisa, Gilbert’s wife went to the lodge and exposed the situation.”
Furthermore, the legal letter of demand cites even more personal allegations. It states that Louisa claimed Joyce Nyamhanhindi, known as Mai Nyathi, had confided in her about contracting a sexually transmitted infection from Gilbert. The lawyers’ letter outlines the severity of these statements, reading,
“These include but are not limited to statements alleging that: Our client (Mrs Nyathi) contracted a sexually transmitted infection (STI); and additional disparaging remarks and insinuations against our client’s parents, impugning their character, morality, and family standing.”
A Legal Ultimatum Issued
The legal letter delivered to Louisa is unequivocal in its demands and outlines the potential consequences. The lawyers gave Louisa seventy-two hours from receipt of the letter to comply fully. The demands are comprehensive and include a public retraction.
“Our instructions are that you withdraw all posts, recordings, interviews, and comments, whether online, in print, or otherwise, relating to our client, her parents, or her family; publish a comprehensive written retraction and apology on the same platforms where the false statements appeared,” the letter stated.
The letter further warns of immediate legal action for defamation, crimen injuria, and violations of privacy laws should she fail to comply. It specifically references South African legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the Protection from Harassment Act. The lawyers noted,
“Your conduct constitutes serious violations of South African law… In the event that you relocate to Zimbabwe, we shall instruct our correspondent attorneys to deal with the matter.”
The Couple’s United Front
This lawsuit represents a united front from the couple, who have recently faced public controversy. In a joint live broadcast prior to the legal action, they publicly addressed a series of leaked voice notes that contained similar allegations.
During that broadcast, they dismissed the audio as fabrications. They claimed the recordings were an AI-generated creation made by their “enemies” to tarnish their image. The move to sue Louisa marks a significant escalation in their efforts to control the narrative and protect their brand as content creators known for their family-oriented “humble” content.
