Christ Embassy Pastor Arrested Over US$7 200 Vehicle Import Scam
A 42-year-old pastor associated with Christ Embassy was arrested by police in Harare after a workmate accused him of misappropriating US$7 200 in a vehicle import transaction that never went through.
The complainant, Mukanhairi Ropafadzo, reportedly handed the money to the pastor, Kudakwashe Singizi, after being told he could facilitate the purchase and importation of a Honda Vezel.
Court Appearance Follows Arrest
Singizi appeared before a Harare magistrate on fraud charges stemming from the incident.
According to the prosecution, the accused misrepresented himself as an agent for BE Forward, convincing the complainant to entrust him with the funds.
The court heard that the pastor promised to deliver the vehicle within three months, but when that period passed, he allegedly avoided contact and provided inconsistent explanations for the delay.
