ZRP is recruiting officers for 2025 – All that you need to know
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has officially announced the start of its 2025 recruitment drive. The police force is calling on young, fit, and qualified Zimbabweans to apply as General Duty Constables. The training will be conducted at Mkushi Police Academy over two years and will lead to a Diploma in Police Studies.
In a press statement issued on 16 April 2025, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi laid out all the key details.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is recruiting suitably qualified candidates who are Zimbabwean citizens, physically fit to join the organisation as General Duty Constables and train for a Diploma in Police Studies for a period of two years at Mkushi Police Academy, an affiliate of the University of Zimbabwe,” he said.
Who can apply?
ZRP says it is looking for candidates aged between 18 and 22 years. Applicants must be at least 18 by 16 April 2025 and no older than 22 by 30 August 2025. Educational qualifications are a must.
“A minimum of five Ordinary level passes, which include Mathematics, English Language, and any other Science subject attained in not more than two sittings,” reads the statement.
Applicants must also meet strict physical and medical fitness requirements. For males, the minimum height is 1.68m barefoot, and a weight of not less than 59kg is required. For females, the minimum height is 1.62m barefoot with a weight proportional to height. Endurance tests also apply.
“Be prepared to complete a 5 km road run in 20 minutes for males and 25 minutes for females,” ZRP emphasised.
How to apply
Applications must be handwritten and include a 450–500-word life history, copies of educational certificates, and a copy of the national ID. These must be submitted in person to the Officer in Charge at the nearest Police Station by 29 April 2025.
“Only shortlisted candidates will be advised of the dates and venues of the interviews,” said ZRP.
ZRP has also outlined the benefits for successful recruits, which include:
-
Free uniforms
-
Free medical and dental care
-
Housing and transport allowances
-
Generous leave conditions
-
Opportunities for further study
Warning to the public
ZRP has also issued a stern warning to job seekers. They urge the public not to fall for scams or unofficial advertisements on social media.
“Members of the public are warned against fraudulent recruitment advertisements on social media platforms and individuals claiming to be members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police who may deceive them into parting with their money,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
The police made it clear that no money is needed during recruitment and that they do not work with third parties.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police does not engage third parties or charge a fee on the recruitment process,” he added.
