Joslin Smith case: Gayton McKenzie reveals ‘evidence’, promises Disneyland trip

Gayton McKenzie has launched the Joslin Smith Foundation in Saldanha Bay. He revealed what he calls new evidence about Joslin Smith’s disappearance. The young girl vanished from Saldanha Bay more than two years ago.

McKenzie leads the Patriotic Alliance and serves as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture. He also promised to fund a Disneyland trip for Joslin’s siblings.

Meanwhile, Joslin’s mother Kelly Smith received a conviction for kidnapping and child trafficking. Two men, Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, were also convicted. Their request for leave to appeal was later denied.

McKenzie Claims New Evidence in Joslin Case

On Sunday, 15 March, McKenzie launched the foundation in Diazville, Saldanha Bay.

The non-profit will help families of missing children across South Africa. Furthermore, McKenzie promised to donate his full ministerial salary to the foundation.

He also believes Joslin may still be alive. Therefore, he plans to present evidence to acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia.

McKenzie argues more people were involved in Joslin’s disappearance. He believes the mastermind remains free.

He also referred to alleged confessions from state witness Lourentia “Rens” Lombaard. Additionally, he mentioned claims involving van Rhyn and Appollis.

McKenzie believes traffickers targeted Joslin and searched for her birth certificate. He claims they searched her home and school in Diazville.

Furthermore, he accused the DA of interfering in his investigation. He alleged they protected the suspected mastermind.

He said: “That is why I believe Joslin is still alive…I’m going straight to the Minister of Police. I’m going to tell him ‘My broer, here is the evidence’. I’m no longer going through cops. The minister is an honest man. What he does with that information is up to him.

McKenzie Promises Disneyland Trip for Joslin’s Siblings

McKenzie also spoke about supporting Joslin’s siblings. He said the foundation will fund their school fees and daily needs. In addition, he promised them an overseas holiday.

He said, “These children are going through a lot.

“I want these kids, the next school holiday, the two of them, with the people who are looking after them, to be taken overseas to Disneyland in Hong Kong.

“I do not care how many millions it costs me…I want these children to never want for anything.

Gayton added: “No child must suffer the way these two children are suffering.”
