Highlanders’ build-up to the highly anticipated Battle of Zimbabwe has suffered a major setback. Players reportedly refused to train over unpaid salaries and winning bonuses.
According to reports from The Chronicle, the Bosso squad skipped Tuesday’s training session. The move was a protest against outstanding payments.
The standoff has sparked fresh concerns ahead of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Barbourfields Stadium.
Players Demand Outstanding Payments
Sources indicate that players are still waiting for salaries and match-winning bonuses. Frustration has reportedly grown after months of uncertainty over payments.
Furthermore, The Chronicle reports that several senior players stayed away from training. They allegedly took the action to pressure club leaders into resolving the wage backlog.
The situation has now placed Highlanders under the spotlight at a critical point in the season.
