Malawian National Dies on Repatriation Bus En Route to Beitbridge Border Post
A Malawian national has died after suddenly falling ill while being transported on a repatriation bus from the Musina Temporary Repatriation Centre in Limpopo.
The man was among undocumented foreign nationals being transported for repatriation when he reportedly became ill during the journey towards the Beitbridge border post.

Bus Turned Back After Medical Emergency
Limpopo Department of Home Affairs provincial head Albert Matsaung said the incident occurred shortly after the bus had departed the repatriation centre.
According to Matsaung, the vehicle had travelled about 15 kilometres before the driver turned around after learning that one of the passengers required urgent medical attention.
Officials said the man reportedly complained that he was feeling unusually hot before removing his shirt and collapsing inside the bus.
The driver immediately returned to the repatriation centre, where emergency medical personnel and police were called to respond.
Cause of Death Yet to Be Determined
Emergency services declared the passenger dead upon arrival at the centre.
Matsaung said authorities have not yet established what caused the man’s death, adding that investigations are underway.
He confirmed that the deceased was a Malawian national who was being repatriated as part of ongoing operations involving undocumented migrants.
Repatriation Programme Continues
The buses transporting undocumented migrants had been prepared before departure and were designated to carry returnees to Zimbabwe and Malawi through the relevant ports of entry.
Officials said processing of undocumented immigrants continues at the Musina Temporary Repatriation Centre before they are transported to their respective border crossings for repatriation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, pending the completion of official procedures and notification of his family.
