Gauteng top cop sends warning to criminals

Gauteng’s police commissioner has emphasized that the men and women in blue were ready to tackle criminality.

Tommy Mthombeni made the remarks after Saturday’s shootout between seven suspected cash-in-transit robbers and police in Germiston.

Six of the suspects were killed in the confrontation, while a seventh sustained serious injuries.

No police officers or civilians were injured. However, Mthombeni used the opportunity to warn criminals that the South African Police Service (SAPS) was prepared and vigilant.

“They have to take note, whoever is planning to carry out a crime within this province, they will feel the heat. As we know, some of them are daring. So, we are up for them, and we will meet them on the streets.”
