Zimbabwe Opens Applications For September 2026 Nurse Training Intake
The Ministry of Health and Child Care has invited applications for its September 2026 General Nurse Training intake, giving aspiring student nurses until 20 July 2026 to submit their applications. The ministry said applicants must meet specific academic and age requirements and warned that it does not charge application fees or use third parties to recruit.
Ministry Of Health Announces September 2026 Nurse Training Intake
According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, applications are open for the three-year Diploma Nurse Training programme.
The ministry said applicants must have at least five Ordinary Level subjects with Grade C or better, including English Language and a Science subject. It also said the passes must have been obtained in no more than two sittings.
The ministry stated:
“Applications for the three-year Diploma Nurse Training are invited by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.”
It added:
“Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age by the date of commencement of training which is 07/09/26.”
Applications must be addressed to the Medical Superintendent, marked for the Senior Tutor-In-Charge, and submitted by 20 July 2026.
ZIMSEC Verification And Interview Requirements Explained
The Ministry of Health and Child Care said shortlisted candidates will be required to present original and certified copies of their Birth Certificate, National Identity Card, Ordinary Level certificates and, where applicable, a Marriage Certificate. Applicants must also bring two passport-size photographs.
The ministry further stated:
“Physical verification of the original academic and identification certificates will be done on the day of interviews. Verification of original certificates will be done by ZIMSEC for the successful candidates.”
Training opportunities are available at Chimhanda School of Nursing, Maphisa School of Nursing and Gwanda School of Nursing.
Ministry Warns Against Recruitment Scams
The ministry also cautioned members of the public against fraudsters claiming to recruit on its behalf.
It said:
“The public is hereby informed that the Ministry of Health and Child Care does not advertise through any other media except state print media and does not charge any fee for processing the applications.”
It also stressed:
“No third parties have been requested to recruit on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Child Care.”
The announcement comes as prospective student nurses prepare for training scheduled to begin on 7 September 2026. Today’s date is 18 July 2026, leaving only a short period before the application deadline.
Prospective applicants have until 20 July 2026 to submit their applications and must ensure they meet all the stated academic, age and documentation requirements. The Ministry of Health and Child Care has urged applicants to follow the official process and remain alert to recruitment scams.
