Watch: Twist to deadly Mufakose love triangle: Woman at the centre denies that she was dating both brothers
A woman at the centre of a deadly Mufakose love triangle has broken her silence, denying claims that she was romantically involved with both brothers. Phillipa, a vendor at Gwenyambira Shopping Centre, insists she was only dating the older sibling, Pardon Ncube, and not his younger brother, Prince.
“I was never in a relationship with Prince,” she said.
“I only dated Pardon. When I met him, he told me that they were not on speaking terms. They hadn’t beenn speaking for 10 months.”
Brothers’ feud started before Phillipa
Phillipa said the brothers’ conflict had nothing to do with her. She claims their rift began months ago during Prince’s lobola ceremony.
“There was an argument about money. People who helped him expected $25 each, but he gave them $20. He then went to their father and complained that Pardon had demanded money from him,” Phillipa alleged.
According to her, this disagreement triggered a long-lasting fallout between the siblings.
“By the time I started seeing Pardon, the brothers were not even talking,” she added.
Eyewitnesses say the tragic confrontation happened while the brothers were playing snooker at Gwenyambira Shopping Centre. A verbal exchange allegedly escalated, ending in a fatal stabbing.
Prince allegedly stabbed brother three times
Prince Ncube, a 27-year-old nurse recently married and working at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, is accused of stabbing his 30-year-old brother, Pardon, three times. Pardon later died at a local clinic. Prince is currently on the run.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident.
“Police are investigating a murder case involving biological brothers in Mufakose,” he said.
“We urge anyone with information to assist us.”
Community members have also weighed in. Some believe the story has been exaggerated.
“Nah they didn’t fight over Phillipa. I was misled by people who love juicing up stories to push umjolo narratives,” wrote @TendiSibbs on X (formerly Twitter).
Another X user suggested other factors were at play.
“As a person who’s been in ghetto gyms for years, I bet you my left leg those dudes were on steroids. That messes with your brain,” wrote @AsinaMari.
Father in shock as community mourns
The brothers’ father, Charles Ncube, said he was unaware of the brewing tension between his sons.
“I was at the farm. I didn’t know anything until I got the call. I’m still shocked,” he said.
Locals described Pardon as respectful and well-known in the area.
Police are urging anyone with information on Prince’s whereabouts to come forward.
