Patience Mangwiro Identified As MSU Colleague
According to H-Metro, published on 10 September 2026, Mangwiro is the acting Director of Enterprise at MSU.
The publication reported that Mangwiro and Muduva had been in a relationship for about five years and had a child together.
The report further stated that Muduva had recently paid lobola for Mangwiro.
The development reportedly came shortly before the fatal incident at his Dzivarasekwa Extension home.
Lobola Photos Put Relationship In Spotlight
H-Metro reported that Muduva shared a photograph from the reported lobola ceremony on his WhatsApp status over the weekend before later removing it.
The publication also reported that photographs from the ceremony had been shared on social media.
A university student quoted by the publication said the developments had caused shock among those who knew the couple.
“Mangwiro recently paraded some of her lobola day photographs on social media bragging of the marriage. This is so sad.”
Martin Muduva Dies After Axe Attack
Muduva died on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, after reportedly being attacked with an axe at his home.
Earlier reports said his wife, Lyliosa Chirara, subsequently died after drinking poison.
Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The ZHRC described Muduva’s death as “a devastating loss to the commission and to all those who had the privilege of working with him”.
Muduva was appointed a ZHRC commissioner in December 2024. He was also an MSU lecturer and technology risk and assurance consultant, with qualifications spanning data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and corporate governance.
The investigation into the deaths remains ongoing.
