City Parking Officials Clamp Cars At Colleague’s Funeral in Kadoma

City Parking officials clamped vehicles parked by mourners attending their colleague’s funeral in Kadoma.

They were humorously mimicking what their late colleague used to do in Harare. The team, comprising only women, was in Kadoma to bid farewell to Doubt Machipisa, a fellow employee who passed away at 50.

H-Metro reported that the incident occurred at a house in the Garikai Annex Section along Mutaramanja Road, Rimuka, where Machipisa’s funeral was being held. The officials clamped several vehicles, removing the clamps only after receiving a “token” payment from the mourners, echoing Machipisa’s daily duties.

One motorist, who had his car clamped, shared his experience:

I took it lightly and just gave them a token so that they would remove the clamp on my car. I had no choice, my brother.

Machipisa, a 50-year-old Harare-based parking officer, had initially planned to return to his station but decided against it after feeling unwell. His nephew, Nyasha, explained the events leading to Machipisa’s death.

At around 3 am, I saw our neighbour coming from our house. I got anxious and went to inquire. That’s when Doubt’s son, Boyca, told me that his father was having health complications. We took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” said Nyasha.

Machipisa’s sudden passing shocked both his colleagues and family. His funeral drew several of his co-workers from Harare, including the City Parking officials, who paid their respects uniquely. Machipisa is survived by his son, Boyca, and other close family members.
