Wicknell Chivayo’s Promised Police Gifts Were Never Delivered, Lawyers Confirm

Lawyers representing unidentified clients in a dispute over Wicknell Chivayo’s promised donations to the police have announced that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) did not receive any of the items he pledged.

Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum lawyers Obey Shava and Obey Chitowamombe said they had received assurances from the police that none of the high-value gifts had been delivered.

“We have been assured by the police that no one received a sweet from Wicknell.

At this stage, we have no reason to disbelieve the police, and consequently, we advise the public that this matter is closed,” Shava told New Zimbabwe.

What Chivayo Promised The Police

Chivayo had pledged 10 bulletproof Toyota Fortuners, tactical equipment worth US$250,000 and an iPhone 17 Pro Max for every officer in the Harare Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide Division.

The offer followed the arrest, prosecution and imprisonment of suspects involved in a robbery at his in-laws’ Alpha and Omega farm in Marondera in March last year.

An 18-member gang reportedly stole cash and other valuables worth more than US$100,000 during the raid. The incident occurred just weeks after Chivayo had paid lobola for his late wife, Lucy Muteke.

Social Media Reacts To Chivayo’s Unfulfilled Police Pledges

The revelation that the police never received Wicknell Chivayo’s promised gifts has sparked debate, with some people suggesting that his death meant the promises would remain unfulfilled. Others questioned whether the donations would have been delivered if he was still alive, while some criticised the police over the controversy.

Nothing a dose of back hand pressure guilt on the executrix of a death estate can’t fix – yes?

ZRP obv has no scruples or manners. There is apparently no end to their demands, even after one’s death. How rude.
