Zimbabwe’s ‘Baltasar’ Arrested For Mai Jeremaya Rape

Two men accused of raping a well-known Zimbabwean woman have been arrested – and now face allegations involving over 100 potential victims.

Thabo Blessing Dube (27) and Martin Charli were apprehended by Matrix Private Investigations after they allegedly lured Maiguru Mai Jeremaya under the pretence of being clients responding to her social media adverts. The incident took place on 30 April.

“I was hunted like an animal”

Speaking out in a raw and emotional Facebook post, Mai Jeremaya detailed how the pair stalked her for weeks.

“These two men have been hunting and chasing me for over three weeks pretending to be clients. I am shaking as I write this,” she wrote.

“On this fateful day, I was alone… I thought I was walking into an office. Before I knew it, one blocked the door while the other locked it. They both took turns to rape me.”

She said she received medical treatment and reported the matter to Waterfalls Police Station. A court date has been set for next week.

According to Matrix Private Detectives, the same number used to contact her had a profile picture of a wealthy South African man and a car with the number plate Sam 1.

“This team uses a phone number with a South African wealthy man on the display picture and a car with the plates indicated ‘Sam 1’. We have revealed some shocking details,” Matrix wrote on Facebook.

Zimbabwe’s own Baltasar?

In a shocking twist, images have surfaced showing Thabo Dube posing with numerous women — prompting comparisons to Baltasar Ebang Engonga Avomo, the notorious Equatorial Guinean politician infamous for his escapades with hundreds of women

“Vakoma ava vanga vachidya vanhu vevanhu patown,” wrote one user on Facebook. “I think vakutodarika Baltasar weku Guinea. The list is too big.”

Social media erupted after Tafadzwa Chidawa, private detective and = the founder of Matrix Investigations, confirmed the arrest on Facebook and said many more women were now speaking out.

“We can confirm that Matrix Private Detectives have arrested Thabo Blessing Dube and Martin Charli for gang raping a female celebrity after pretending to be clients. The two are currently detained at Waterfalls Police,” he said.

He also revealed that the suspects’ phones contained contact details of over 50 women. New reports suggest the number may now exceed 100.

“Yesterday we thought it was just a few victims, but more than 100 girls and women have been trapped by these guys,” Chidawa added.

“He wore a Zanu PF jersey”

Several survivors have now come forward, identifying Dube as the man who lured them using online platforms like Facebook Marketplace.

“Some women were told ‘the boss isn’t around’ and then taken advantage of. Others were given just $10 before being dismissed,” read one post.
“Thabho was even seen wearing a Zanu PF jersey in some encounters.”

Mai Jeremaya urged others to break their silence.

“Please open up even anonymously. Mhuka iyi haifanire kuona zuva chero zvadii,” she pleaded in another post.
“They said they work for high offices, pulled out my birth records and claimed to have a gun. I am still scared.”
