National Consultant for Programme Monitoring and Knowledge Management

UNICEF Zimbabwe is inviting qualified professionals to apply for an exciting consultancy opportunity that will play a critical role in supporting its programme monitoring and knowledge management efforts. This consultancy, lasting 150 working days, is open exclusively to Zimbabwean nationals and offers a unique chance to contribute to the advancement of children’s rights and development in the country.

The Role

As a National Consultant, the selected individual will support the UNICEF Zimbabwe Country Office (CO) in monitoring programme performance and enhancing knowledge management. This involves working closely with both government and implementing partners to strengthen systems, generate reliable data, and promote evidence-based decision-making across UNICEF-supported initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will be expected to:

  • Support performance monitoring, reporting, and development of data and information systems.

  • Maintain and improve office-wide programme databases and data visualization tools.

  • Support updates to UNICEF’s Results Assessment Module (RAM), UN Info, and Zimbabwe’s DevProMIS system.

  • Assist in producing regular monitoring reports and Knowledge Management Digests.

  • Coordinate field monitoring, supply-end user monitoring, and support programme teams in developing monitoring frameworks.

  • Build internal and partner capacity in data collection, analysis, and knowledge management.

  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and key decisions from programme implementation.

  • Contribute to UNICEF’s efforts in strengthening national information management systems and interagency collaboration.

Deliverables and Timeline

The national consultancy spans seven months, with deliverables broken down into monthly progress reports, training activities, field monitoring, data system updates, and digest production. A final Knowledge Management Digest and updated SharePoint site are among the key outputs expected by the end of December.

Who Should Apply?

UNICEF is looking for a professional with:

  • A university degree in social sciences, statistics, development planning, or related fields.

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in programme development, monitoring, or evaluation.

  • Proven skills in data analysis, visualization, knowledge management, and capacity building.

  • Familiarity with gender-based programming and humanitarian response work is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of M&E tools, UN systems, and UNICEF’s mission and values.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English and the local language of the duty station is required.
