Zimbabwe Warriors Name Two Squads For Morocco Friendlies And COSAFA Cup

Michael Nees has named two Warriors squads—one for international friendlies in Morocco and another for the 2025 COSAFA Cup in South Africa. The selections show a mix of European flair and local grit, with Scottland FC and Ngezi Platinum emerging as domestic powerhouses.

Foreign-based stars headline Morocco friendlies

Zimbabwe will take on Burkina Faso and Niger in Morocco next month in high-stakes friendlies. The squad includes 13 foreign-based players.

“These matches are key to assessing where we stand,” Nees said.
“We want to expose players to international intensity.”

“Players from Belgium to Iraq are answering the call.”

COSAFA Cup squad shines light on local heroes

The COSAFA Cup, set for 4–15 June in Bloemfontein, is reserved for homegrown talent. But five foreign-based players slipped in.

“This is a celebration of our domestic league,” said assistant coach Joel Luphahla.
“But we couldn’t ignore the few Zimbabweans doing well abroad.”

“Ngezi Platinum has been outstanding,” said head coach Simon Marange.
“They deserve to dominate this squad.”

Domestic clubs flex muscle as European flavour blends in

Scottland FC leads the way in the Morocco-bound squad with 5 players. Meanwhile, Ngezi Platinum boasts 6 in the COSAFA setup.

“This shows how strong our domestic scouting networks are,” said a ZIFA official.
“But let’s not forget the international experience many of these lads bring.”

With 23 players named in each squad, the Warriors’ technical bench is clearly preparing for future continental campaigns and qualifiers. The mix of Europe’s discipline and Zimbabwe’s flair may just be the blend needed.
