Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu has addressed long-held rumours that he is the father of fellow musician Greatman’s son.

In a recent sit-down with DJ Ollah 7, Sulumani opened up about his life in music, his father’s legacy, and the ups and downs of fame. But it was a cheeky moment during the interview that had viewers talking.

DJ Ollah 7, clearly not afraid to stir the pot, jokingly asked if Sulumani had ever “encountered” Greatman’s wife. The musician played along with the humour, turning the word “encounter” into a punchline.

He said even something as innocent as a greeting could be considered an encounter, before recalling the only time he remembers meeting her — during an event hosted by Mai TT and Ring Driving School, where she was with Greatman.

“Unogona kungokwazisa munhu ka. Kungomuti munhu makadini. It’s an encounter futi kukwazisa. Kukwazisa ndakambovakwazisa ndavaonawo vatori na Greatman vakatozvitakurawo. Ah no. Before, before mhani. Ah hoo makorokoto makorokoto ndichatozouyawo nechipo changu,” Chimbetu explained.

But on a serious note, Sulumani dismissed the rumour outright and suggested it was all part of some attempt to use Greatman’s name for attention. He encouraged Greatman to come forward and share his side of the story.

“Aiwa ipapo vanenge vachida kuseenzesa Greatman somewhere somehow. Anofanirwa kuuya Greatman ataure nyaya dzake,” Sulumani said.
