The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church is building its second university in Zimbabwe — this time in the town of Chegutu — and the institution is set to make a big impact. Once complete, the university will house a School of Engineering, a Law School, and a Medical School.

The development was shared online by Engineer Bhovungane, who posted the update on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that construction is already underway.
“The Seventh Day Adventist Church is currently constructing its second university in Zimbabwe in the town of Chegutu. When completed, it is expected to house a School of Engineering, a Law School, as well as a Medical School,” Engineer Bhovungane announced.

A Growing Education Footprint
The Chegutu project adds to the SDA Church’s growing educational footprint in Zimbabwe. The church already runs Solusi University in Matabeleland South, along with a wide network of primary and secondary schools and healthcare facilities.
In 2018, the SDA Church also launched the Adventist College of Education in Gweru. The college, which started construction in 2015, was officially commissioned by then-Higher Education Minister Professor Amon Murwira. It was expected to enrol around 300 primary teacher trainees at its opening, with the capacity to accommodate up to 1,500 students per intake.
The institution operates under the University of Zimbabwe’s associate status, which allows the national university to supervise its curriculum, exams, and certification.
