Zimbabwe Foreign Affairs Ministry Exposes Fake Embassy Job Scam Demanding US$375

Zimbabwe Government Warns Public of Embassy Job Scam Targeting Job Seekers Online

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has issued a public warning about a fake Facebook page impersonating the Zimbabwe Embassy in Kenya and advertising fraudulent job opportunities.

According to the Ministry, the scam page was created on 14 June 2025 by an unknown individual and falsely claims to be recruiting staff for the Zimbabwean Embassy in Kenya.

Scammers Demanding US$375 for Fake Accreditation Certificate

The fake page is reportedly offering non-existent embassy jobs and instructing unsuspecting applicants to pay US$375 for an “Africa Regional Labour Accreditation Certificate” — a bogus document claimed to be part of the recruitment process.

The Ministry has distanced itself from the page and clarified that it does not represent the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Kenya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, or the Government of Zimbabwe.

Recruitment Is Only Done Through the Public Service Commission

The Ministry reminded citizens that all legitimate recruitment into Zimbabwe’s public service is handled exclusively by the Public Service Commission (PSC), and that no payment is ever required at any stage of the recruitment process.

Members of the public are advised to note that recruitment into the public service of Zimbabwe is conducted through the Public Service Commission. No money is requested at any stage,” the statement reads.

Government Urges Vigilance and Verification

The Ministry also urged Zimbabweans to verify the authenticity of any foreign job opportunities through official government channels.

Members of the public are encouraged to contact the Ministry or Zimbabwean Embassies abroad before engaging with job offers that appear online — especially those that request money.
