Mai Jeremaya Exposed: Man Says She Demanded Sex and Money in Private Chats
A Harare man has come forward with explosive claims against social media personality Mai Jeremaya, accusing her of persistently demanding sex and cash — and expressing serious doubts about her recent rape allegations in court.
The man, known as Baba Tanya, says he met Mai Jeremaya on social media in 2023 and was quickly overwhelmed by a barrage of text messages. He alleges that she repeatedly asked for money and sex, sometimes in exchange for nude pictures, and even pressured him to meet her despite never having met in person.
According to Baba Tanya, Mai Jeremaya made her intentions clear from the start. At one point, she texted him saying she was “horny” and wanted to know when they could have sex. When he delayed, she became upset — allegedly because he wouldn’t pay for her hair.
In another message, she complimented his looks during a video call, saying:
“Icho (accompanied by a love emoji), zvauri handsome nhaiwe, ndongoona tuma small pictures pa video call.”
When news broke that Mai Jeremaya had accused two men, Thabo Blessing Dube and Martin Charlie, of gang-raping her at a Harare lodge, Baba Tanya says he followed the case closely. He says, based on his own experience and conversations with her, he immediately doubted the story.
“I nearly volunteered to give my testimony in court in favour of the two men she accused of raping her. Look at these chats between me and her in 2023, she was ever demanding to meet me for sex,” he said.
Despite his reluctance to meet her in person, Baba Tanya admits he sent her money, over US$300, for her hair, data, and general upkeep. Looking back, he says he regrets ever proposing love to her.
“I deliberately avoided meeting her, lied about some false trips but I sent the money she demanded for her hairdo and data. I regretted proposing love to her; she sent some nude photographs that included private parts. Check in some of our conversations, she ended up regretting sending the pictures. She would ask me to meet her at a bus stop opposite Waterfalls Police Station.”
When he requested that she send him pictures showing her backside, she replied:
“Iri kuramba front camera yangu haisi kuburitsa yakadonha.”
On Friday, Harare regional magistrate Letwin Rwodzi dismissed Mai Jeremaya’s rape case, saying she was a willing participant in the encounter. The magistrate cited several inconsistencies in her testimony and even questioned the involvement of a private investigator, Advocate Kedha, in the case.
Dube and Charlie were acquitted after a full trial.
Despite several attempts, H-Metro was unable to reach Mai Jeremaya for comment.
From their WhatsApp chats, now in the hands of the publication, it appears Baba Tanya never met her in person, but still sent money and flirted via text. In a message from January 3, 2024, she thanked him for supporting her business and “helping shape her brand,” which only adds to the confusion surrounding her recent claims.
“As I look back in the past year, I’d like to acknowledge you in helping me shape my brand and business simply by associating with me. Thank you so much. I wish you and your family all the best for the New Year 2024.”
