The mother of slain multi-award-winning rapper AKA, Lynn Forbes recently visited his grave; an experience she described as “joyful and peaceful”.
The rapper, real name Kiernan Forbes was murdered in Durban on 10 February 2023. His friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane who was a celebrity chef was also killed in the shooting incident.
In a recent Instagram post, Lynn opened up about her visits to AKA’s grave.
“Visiting your grave has become easier to do. It brings me so much comfort, grounds me and gives me peace at the same time,” she wrote.
Lynn revealed that AKA told her in her dream to visit him often. Glammy, as she is affectionately known, also shared that she often gives her late son updates on his daughter’s life.
The Lemons (Lemonade) hitmaker was the father of eight-year-old Kairo Forbes, whom he had with DJ Zinhle.
“In my dream, you asked me to visit often and enjoy this peaceful setting and you were right. Talking to you, updating you on what’s happening with Kairo, the family, anything I think you would want to know, makes me feel more connected to you.
“Sometimes, I find comfort in just sitting quietly with you to think and pray.
“I miss you terribly but my heart is at peace. Visiting your grave has become a joyful and peaceful experience that brings me comfort and keeps your memory alive and strong,” Lynn added.
Over a year after AKA and TIBZ’S murders, the South African Police Services (SAPS) revealed that seven suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged hit.

Two of the seven accused, brothers Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande, are being extradited to South Africa after they were arrested in Eswatini in February.
On 15 May, when the five men in South Africa appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court, they were denied bail by Judge Vincent Hlatshwayo.
