Bulawayo Man Busted Stealing 60 Litres of Diesel from NRZ, Fuel Recovered

A Bulawayo man, Ronald Shumba (34), was arrested after attempting to steal diesel from the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ).

Security personnel intercepted him at the NRZ gate with two containers holding a total of 60 litres of diesel.

Shumba appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Abednico Ndebele, facing charges of theft. He was remanded in custody until 18 October while investigations continue.

Security Guard Foils Diesel Theft After Suspect Caught with 60 Litres

According to B-Metro, the incident occurred on 10 October around 21:00, according to prosecutor Joseph Rugara.

Security guard Gerald Dhliwayo noticed Shumba’s suspicious behavior as he approached the gate in a blue Honda Fit (AEJ 5463).

A vehicle search revealed two 30-litre containers, one blue and one khaki, both filled with diesel. When asked about the fuel’s source, Shumba was unable to provide a coherent explanation.

Diesel Recovered, Vehicle Seized

The diesel, valued at US$75, was fully recovered. Authorities seized the containers, ensuring the stolen fuel did not leave the premises.

Shumba remains in custody, and his case will continue as investigations proceed.

Mazowe Man Arrested for Theft of Armoured Cables

Meanwhile, in a separate case police in Mazowe arrested Rodrick Kativhu in connection with the theft of armoured cables at Foyle Farm.

The suspect was caught by security guards while vandalizing a ZETDC transformer and attempting to steal the cables.

Authorities recovered a black satchel containing 12 spanners, three knives, a pair of pliers, an adjustable steel spanner, four pieces of copper cable, and various clothing items from Kativhu.
