Wicknell Chivayo Says Mike Chimombe And Moses Mpofu Will Get 20 Years In Prison
Controversial businessman and ZANU-PF activist Wicknell Chivayo has publicly declared that his former business associates, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, will be sentenced to 20 years in prison. This bold prediction was made before the two men had even been convicted.
The declaration, made on social media ahead of their judgment, triggered intense speculation. Hours later, High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda convicted the pair of fraud, leaving the public waiting to see if Chivayo’s “prophecy” on sentencing will also come true.
A Clash Of Prophecies On Social Media
The drama began online on 22 October 2025 when Prophet Passion Java expressed optimism about Chimombe’s future ahead of judgment at the High Court. Prophet Passion Java posted:
“Can’t wait to see you later my friend, God bles this day! #bossmike!!!”
Chivayo immediately countered this, taking aim at “false prophets” and making his own stunning claim about the pair’s fate. Chivayo not only contradicted Java but made a very specific prediction about the fate of his former partners. He wrote:
“Chenjerai Vaporofita ve nhema pa nyika. Izwi rakati Varume vamedzwa ne Hwai varwa ne denga.
“Today is not judgement day, its conviction day. 20 years dzaka porofitwa ndiri pamusoro pe gomo Johane Aka Tumwa Madzibaba….Ini ndiri mukuru handitaure zveku nyeba.”
This loosely translates to,
“Beware of false prophets in the land. The word declared that the men who fight the heavens will be swallowed by lambs.
Today is not judgement day, it is conviction day. The 20 years were prophesied while I was on the mountain. Johane, was sent (to the world) Madzibaba… I am a senior person, I do not say things that do not come to pass.”)
Following this exchange on social media, Justice Kwenda later convicted Chimombe and Mpofu of fraud linked to the Presidential Goat Scheme. Their sentencing has been set for 31 October 2025.
Fallout Between Former Business Partners
The conviction is the latest twist in a bitter fallout between Chivayo, Chimombe and Mpofu. Once partners in lucrative government contracts, their relationship unravelled amid allegations of fraud, corruption, and leaked audio recordings.
In October 2024, during the start of their trial, the two accused claimed they were being selectively prosecuted because of leaked audio recordings linked to Chivayo.
The leaked audios, first emerging in June 2024, caused a storm. In the recordings, a voice alleged to be Chivayo’s boasted of close ties to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and discussed payments tied to a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) tender worth more than US$100 million (about R1.8 billion).
Although Chivayo denied the recordings, dismissing them as “AI-generated,” the fallout cemented divisions with his former partners, who accused him of betrayal and fraud in other deals. The collapse of trust has since played out in both the courts and on social media.
How Is Chivayo Connected Enough To Make Bold Declarations?
Chivayo’s ability to make such specific predictions about court outcomes has raised eyebrows. His confidence in declaring a 20-year sentence before conviction has fuelled speculation about his proximity to power.
His controversial status, coupled with his repeated public appearances alongside top officials, has led many to question how far his influence stretches. Whether his prophecy was mere bravado or based on inside knowledge will become clearer when Justice Kwenda delivers the sentencing.
With Chimombe and Mpofu convicted, all eyes turn to 31 October 2025, when the High Court will decide whether Chivayo’s prophecy of 20 years in prison becomes a reality.
