Pitso Mosimane Linked With Shock Return to Middle East as Al-Arabi Eyes New Leadership
Veteran coach Pitso Mosimane is once again at the centre of Middle Eastern football discussions, with Kuwaiti giants Al-Arabi reportedly considering him for their vacant head coach role.
According to Alrai Media, the club has entered “serious discussions” with the 61-year-old following the dismissal of Portuguese coach Marco Alves.
Al-Arabi parted ways with Alves after a disappointing defeat to bottom-placed Al-Nasr, triggering an urgent search for a high-calibre tactician capable of stabilising their season.

Three-Year Contract Demand Blocks Al-Shatti’s Return
Before turning their attention to Mosimane, Al-Arabi initially tried to lure back former coach Nasser Al-Shatti, who guided the team to both the Prince Cup and Crown Prince Cup finals last season.
Al-Shatti’s strong track record made him a frontrunner, but talks collapsed when he demanded a three-year deal — a commitment the club was unwilling to make beyond 18 months.
This deadlock has reportedly placed Mosimane at the top of the club’s shortlist.
Why Al-Arabi Wants Mosimane
Sources close to the talks suggest Al-Arabi’s hierarchy highly values Mosimane’s championship pedigree.
The Kagiso-born coach has a decorated résumé, having delivered three CAF Champions League titles across his spells with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly. His ability to build winning teams in high-pressure environments is seen as an ideal fit for the Kuwaiti club’s ambitions.
Although Mosimane’s recent Middle Eastern stints have not reached the same heights as his African successes, insiders believe he is eager for a fresh challenge and an opportunity to reassert his dominance on the international stage.
Negotiations Could Shape Mosimane’s Next Chapter
Should the discussions advance smoothly, the move would mark Mosimane’s latest return to the Middle East — and one that could redefine the trajectory of both his career and Al-Arabi’s season.
For now, all eyes remain on whether the two parties can align on terms and move forward.
