Zimbabwe’s Lisa Sibanda Only African To Make Top 10 Of Miss Cosmo International

Lisa Sibanda of Zimbabwe has clinched a historic spot. She is the only African contestant to reach the Top 10 of the Miss Cosmo International 2025 pageant. The result was confirmed on 20 December 2025.

The official announcement came from the Miss Universe South Africa X account. Their post congratulated “the ONLY placing African Queen”.

Reaction To The Continental Result

The news prompted immediate and mixed reactions online. Many celebrated the achievement. Zimbabwean figure Fadzayi Mahere posted, “Huge congratulations to our Zimbabwean Queen, Lisa Sibanda.”

Others questioned the broader continental representation. X user Juanita Sisulu asked, “My question is, why is there only one representative in Africa that went through?”

In response, the Miss Universe South Africa account pointed to structural factors within pageantry. They stated:

Business is a part of pageantry and Zimbabwe is backed by an organization with a notable national footprint. This doesn’t take away from her amazingness though because she is a lawyer by profession.

Support For The Lone Finalist

Messages of support for Sibanda highlighted her professional and personal attributes. Fans noted her career as a lawyer and her Ndebele heritage.

The Miss Universe South Africa account itself showcased solidarity, despite their delegate not placing. They emphasised pan-African support, replying to a user with,

“Exactly, they are our sister ❤.”

With the competition entering its final phase, Lisa Sibanda now stands as the single African representative in the Miss Cosmo International Top 10.
