Warriors’ AFCON Hopes on the Brink After Angola Draw
Zimbabwe’s Warriors are left facing a do-or-die scenario in their next match after a 1–1 draw with Angola in their Group B encounter on Friday afternoon.
The stalemate leaves Zimbabwe bottom of the group with just one point, placing immense pressure on their final group match against South Africa.

Goals at Either End
Angola struck first through Gelson Dala, who found the net to give the Palancas Negras an early advantage and put Zimbabwe on the back foot.
The Warriors, however, showed resilience and composure, with Knowledge Musona stepping up to level matters and restore hope for the Zimbabwean side.
Despite chances at both ends, neither team was able to find a decisive winner as the match ended all square.
Group B Standings Tighten
The draw sees Angola move onto two points, while Zimbabwe remain rooted at the bottom of Group B with one point from their opening fixtures.
With the group finely balanced, Zimbabwe’s margin for error has completely disappeared as they look to stay alive in the tournament.
Must-Win Clash Against South Africa Looms
Zimbabwe now face a must-win COSAFA derby against South Africa in their group match on December 29.
Victory is the Warriors’ only route to qualification, likely as one of the best third-placed teams. Any result other than a win will confirm their early exit from AFCON 2025 at the group stage.
Here are some of the reactions:
@Harrison King;
Let’s hope Egypt beats SA and then we beat SA.Otherwise another pretentious performance against SA will see us out yet again in the first round.

@Mindloz;
Zim will rue the missed opportunities. All to play for against Bafana Bafana in the next game.
@NunuraiNdawana:
Zim was wasteful with their chances. 3 clear cut chances that were blown away. Hard one to take.
