Zimbabwe Police Intensify Hunt for Guruve Serial Killer

Security forces have stepped up efforts to track down suspected serial killer Anymore Zvitsva (32), who is wanted in connection with a string of brutal murders that have rocked Guruve district over the past month.

Police say the suspect is linked to at least 12 killings carried out in separate night-time attacks, sparking widespread fear among villagers and prompting an unprecedented security response.

Reward Offered to Speed Up Arrest

In a bid to fast-track Zvitsva’s capture, police have announced a significant cash reward for information leading to his arrest. The incentive was personally authorised by Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the reward remains on the table and warned that anyone assisting or sheltering the suspect will face arrest.

Those who are helping or harbouring him, including relatives, are committing an offence and will be dealt with accordingly,” Nyathi said.

Heavy Security Presence on the Ground

Authorities have launched an intensive manhunt involving multiple specialised units. Drone surveillance, sniffer dogs, horse patrols and tactical response teams have been deployed across affected areas as police narrow down the suspect’s possible hideouts.

Nyathi urged members of the public to report any information through the National Complaints Desk, the Guruve Police District or designated emergency hotlines, assuring informants that they will be rewarded.

Night Attacks Leave Communities in Fear

What initially appeared to be isolated incidents in October have escalated into a chilling pattern of violence. Residents say the attacks usually occur at night, forcing families to abandon their homes and sleep in groups at safer locations.

The fear intensified last Monday after a mother and her teenage daughter, a Form Three pupil, were murdered in Bhosha Village in the Magaya area. Another child survived the attack by hiding under a bed.

Rising Death Toll Shocks the District

In another gruesome incident, a 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old baby were killed at Farm 88 in Nyakapupu, with both victims found bearing severe head injuries.

The murders followed the killing of five members of the same family at Ona Mapeto Farm in Ward 21. The victims included a grandmother, her adult son and daughter, and two young children aged five and two. A neighbour who rushed to the scene found the son still alive, but he later died in hospital.

Zvitsva is also suspected to be behind the murder of Pamela Chipangura (39) and her two children, Kudzai and Tawanda, in Zimuna Village, further deepening alarm in the district.
