Guruve Serial Killer Anymore Zvitsva Finally Arrested, Shot While Hiding

Zimbabwe Police Arrest Anymore Zvitsva

The Guruve serial killer suspect, Anymore Zvitsva, has finally been arrested. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed his arrest on the afternoon of 3 January 2026, ending a nationwide manhunt that began in December 2025. The 32-year-old fugitive was shot and captured during a dramatic joint security operation in Guruve.

According to the official police statement, the breakthrough came from a joint security forces operation. A team comprising officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police and soldiers from the Zimbabwe National Army located Zvitsva hiding in a garden. During the confrontation, the suspect was shot in the left leg. The police confirmed he is now receiving medical attention at a local hospital under guard. Commissioner Paul Nyathi, in the statement, directly thanked the public for their assistance, writing:

“The Police applauds the Guruve community and all Zimbabweans for the support rendered during the comprehensive manhunt for the suspect.”

Family Arrests Preceded Capture

The culmination of the search followed a startling development just three days prior. On 31 December 2025, police announced they had taken several of Zvitsva’s own family members into custody. They were accused of actively assisting him while he was a fugitive. Those detained included his 107-year-old grandmother and some of his siblings. Authorities alleged they provided the wanted man with food and critical intelligence on the search efforts closing in around him.

A Month of Paralysing Fear in Guruve

The hunt for Anymore Zvitsva, which began in earnest in December 2025 after a series of brutal attacks, paralysed the Guruve community. Residents described abandoning their daily routines and fields, living in a state of siege. Reports from late 2025 detailed how villagers were sleeping in groups for safety and had been issued whistles to sound alarms.

The police statement concluded by noting that more details regarding the formal criminal charges and Zvitsva’s court appearance will be provided in due course. The arrest on 3 January 2026 ends a concentrated, high-pressure operation that involved drones, canine units, and tactical teams, finally providing relief to a terrorised community.
