Another key player left Orlando Pirates

On Thursday, Orlando Pirates announced a surprise departure involving defender Olisa Ndah. The club confirmed the split took place with immediate effect. Pirates explained that both parties reached a “mutual agreement” to separate. According to the club, the Nigerian international requested an early release. This decision followed “careful and respectful discussions between the player and the club’s management”.

Club Explains Mutual Decision

Pirates described the separation as amicable and respectful. The club emphasised shared understanding throughout the discussions.

“Central to these conversations was a shared understanding to afford Ndah the opportunity to secure regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his career.

“The club respects Ndah’s desire for increased minutes on the field and acknowledges his honest engagement with management throughout the process. It is in this spirit of mutual respect that an amicable decision was reached,” the statement continued.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to thank Olisa for his professionalism, dedication and service to the club. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career, both on a personal level and in his continued journey in the game.”

Ndah’s Journey at Orlando Pirates

Ndah joined the Buccaneers in 2021 and quickly became a defensive leader. He made over 80 appearances and featured close to 100 times overall. However, a tibia and fibula fracture sidelined him for nearly 12 months last year. As a result, consistent game time became difficult this season. Despite this, Pirates praised his contribution and character.

“On the pitch, he was dependable and disciplined; off it, he was a model professional who represented the badge with distinction,” the announcement concluded.
