Police Raise Alarm Over Deadly Domestic Disputes
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has raised concern over a series of murder, attempted murder and suicide cases involving couples and family members following domestic disputes.
The incidents reported in different parts of the country have left several people dead, while others are battling serious injuries in hospital.

Two Children Die In Zhombe
In one of the latest cases, two young boys died after their mother allegedly gave them a poisonous substance before ingesting it herself.
The incident happened on 21 September 2026 at Maisa Village in Zhombe following a reported misunderstanding between 23-year-old Emily Takadii and her husband over allegations of infidelity.
Takadii allegedly gave the substance to her two sons, six-year-old Shyne Tavatya and nine-year-old Sean Tavatya, before taking it herself.
The two children died upon admission at Kwekwe District Hospital, while their mother remains admitted at the same hospital in critical condition.
Couple Found Dead In Glen View
Meanwhile, police are investigating the deaths of a couple who were found in their bedroom in Glen View 3, Harare.
Nyasha Mhungu, 35, and his wife, Olga Muzhingi, 30, were found dead on 23 September 2026.
The couple was reportedly experiencing marital disputes, although police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Man Arrested After Stepson’s Death
In Mvurwi, police arrested 27-year-old Kudakwashe Rangarirai in connection with a murder and attempted murder case in Omeath Extension on 22 September.
Rangarirai allegedly killed his two-year-old stepson, Prince Owen Mugari, and seriously injured his 23-year-old wife.
He subsequently ingested a poisonous substance and was admitted to Mvurwi Hospital.
His wife is receiving treatment in critical condition at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Wife Assaulted Over Infidelity Allegations
Another domestic violence case was reported in Nyamhunga, Kariba, where police arrested 33-year-old Emmanuel Mpofu for allegedly severely assaulting his 25-year-old wife.
The incident reportedly followed allegations of infidelity.
The woman was taken to Kariba Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
Police Urge Families To Seek Help
Police have urged couples and family members experiencing disputes to avoid violence and find peaceful and lawful ways of resolving their differences.
The public has also been encouraged to seek counselling and involve trusted third parties, including traditional leaders, church leaders and professional counsellors, when dealing with marital or domestic challenges.
