CoCT says Cape Town dam levels over 100% full, thanks to recent heavy rains

Cape Town dam levels are more than 100% full, thanks to recent heavy rains.

The city said over the past week, dams supplying Cape Town with water increased by 1.8% to 101%.

This time in 2023, dam levels were at 99.6%.

The city’s MMC for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, has reiterated the municipality’s call for residents to use water sparingly.

“We are also very cautious. Like last year, our rainfall period was very short with very heavy bursts of rain – very unusual for our normal rainfall pattern that as a city, we are used to.”
