Guruve Serial Killer Now Faces 25 Murder Counts: Police Say Anymore Zvitsva May Not Have Acted Alone

25 Murder Counts For Suspected Guruve Serial Killer Anymore Zvitsva

The alleged Guruve serial killer, Anymore Zvitsva, is now facing a staggering 25 counts of murder as police reveal he may not have carried out the horrific crimes alone. Anymore Zvitsva, 33, stands formally accused of one of the most prolific killing sprees in Zimbabwe’s recent history. The charges paint a picture of a ten-month reign of terror across villages in Mashonaland Central Province’s Guruve district.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the unprecedented number of charges on 22 January 2026.

“Police can conclusively confirm that he is now facing 25 counts of murder,” Commissioner Nyathi stated. “He is also facing three counts of attempted murder and two cases of rape and then one case of rape and attempted murder. We will keep the public updated.”

This announcement followed the addition of five new charges. Zvitsva was further remanded in custody until 3 February 2026.

Police Investigate Potential Accomplices

In a major development, authorities are now actively investigating the possibility that Zvitsva did not act in isolation. The police probe is examining whether he received assistance from others in the community, suggesting a level of organisation previously unknown in the case.

Commissioner Nyathi confirmed this line of enquiry was being pursued.

“We are also conducting investigations in connection with the allegations that there were people who were assisting Zvitsva,” he said.

This revelation has deepened fears within the traumatised Guruve community, where residents had believed the threat was contained with a single arrest.

A Grisly Trail Of Victims

The path to 25 murder charges began with a detailed court listing of 19 victims earlier in January. During a hearing at Harare Magistrates Court on 5 January 2026, prosecutors read a chilling chronology. It included names like Jane Dube, killed in March 2025, and a mother and son, Pamela and Kudzai Chipangura, allegedly killed on the same day in December.

The list grew just days later. On 10 January 2026, Zvitsva led police to the graves of 24-year-old Charity Karembera and her three-year-old son Tendai, bringing the total linked to him at that time to 21. A report from The Herald described the scene, quoting Zvitsva at the child’s grave.

“I felt pity for the child after I killed the mother and killed him, too,” Zvitsva said, according to the publication.

Body Parts Allegations Remain Under Scrutiny

Alongside the search for accomplices, police continue to investigate disturbing allegations of a trade in human remains. Commissioner Nyathi addressed these claims directly.

“We are also conducting investigations… that there are some people who were allegedly given or accessed some body parts from Zvitsva and paid some money,” he stated. “We are still verifying those allegations.”

As Zvitsva awaits his next court date, a community remains on edge, and a nation waits to see if the full scope of the horror and the network behind it will be uncovered.
